BodyWork

1.

What is it?

Bodywork is a general term that encompasses many types of massage or manual therapy outside of health plan coverage. I use a combination of deep tissue, myofascial release, swedish, acupressure. All of these modalities work on various levels of the muscle, connective tissue (fascia), and have effects on  musculoskeletal and nervous system.  You can read more in detail about each modality here.

3.

What to expect

I offer a therapeutic focused treatment for each visit. This means at your initial pain consult, I will perform a comprehensive musculoskeletal exam and pain history. I will use this information to tailor your sessions to your specific need/concern/pain. Session lengths are 45-60 min long. I employ a a four tiered approach, as below, to address your particular needs. You will arrive 15 min early to each session and be given a heating pad to be applied to affected area. During the session I will use myofascial release, deep tissue, Swedish and acupressure techniques. I communicate with you during the session to ensure you are comfortable. After the session, I discuss after care and we decide on recommended follow up (often sessions for acute problems are needed weekly or every other week   and maintenance phases is 1-2 times per month).
